Isla Mujeres is a small, magical island off the northern coast of Quintana Roo in the Caribbean Sea, about a 20‑minute ferry ride from Cancun. The island is roughly 7 km long and 500 m wide and is home to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches — Playa Norte was named one of the 25 best beaches in the world in the Travelers’ Choice 2025 Awards. To get to Isla Mujeres, fly into Cancun International Airport and make your way to the <a href="https://ultramarsales.ultramarferry.com/en/routes-and-departures.php" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ultramar</a> ferry landing. You can take a taxi to the Gran Puerto (Puerto Juárez) ferry terminal or prebook a transfer; we recommend <a href="https://www.ridemecancun.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">RideMeCancun</a> (if you book on their website, choose the hotels section and select Puerto Juárez Ferry as the destination). The drive from the airport to the ferry landing is about 30 minutes, then the Ultramar ferry takes roughly 18–20 minutes; tickets can be purchased online or at the terminal. Ferries from Puerto Juárez run frequently (about every 30 minutes). On Isla Mujeres you can get around by taxi or rent a golf cart; we suggest taking a taxi from the ferry terminal to Hotel Belo, and you can rent a golf cart from the vendor near the hotel if you’d like to explore the island on your own.
